NOCTURN
Op. 10

A nocturnal——in the Bartókian sense——study on perfect unisons and microtonal deviations through ornamentation. It can be thought as a macroscopic bisbigliando embodied by the ensemble as a whole. Debussy-inflected harmonies permeate the end, which contrasts with the glacial, static sonority of the first two thirds of the Nocturn.

Special prize of the 4th Ise-Shima International Composition Competition.

Instrumentation:
flute (also piccolo) - oboe - clarinet in B♭ (also bass clarinet in B♭)
percussion - harp - piano
violin - viola - cello
